QUALITY SYSTEM CERTIFICATION to ISO 9001: VISION 2000
Brevini Power Transmission obtained certification to ISO 9001 as long ago as 1993, confirming the quality of its entire operation, from design, through production to marketing and sales.

Eager to forge a genuine partnership with customers, we implemented our quality system in conformity to the new Vision 2000 standards, which also focus on measuring customer satisfaction and the continual improvement of processes, aimed at responding to customer requirements and expectations and ensuring a dynamic evolution of Quality Management Systems.

TYPE APPROVAL CERTIFICATE BY DET NORSKE VERITAS
After extensive testing of production samples and statistical calculations, Type Approval certification is issued to companies that demonstrate their ability to manufacture industrial products the comply with established standards. In the specific case of Brevini Power Transmission, the type approval certificate was issued for planetary gearbox calculation methods and dimensioning. Approval parameters were defined by Det Norske Veritas based on international standards. The Type Approval certificate, which is valid for four years, was issued for Industrial planetary gearboxes and for Slewing and Winch Drives.

 

THE EIGHT PRINCIPLES OF QUALITY
The eight guiding principles of ISO 9000 have always formed the basis of our strategic decision-making at Brevini Power Transmssion.

CUSTOMER ORIENTATION
Ever since Brevini Power Transmssion was first incorporated, customer orientation has been central to the company’s activity. This is proven by the fact that the name of Brevini has always been associated with the image of a company interested in the customer, ready to develop special products capable of satisfying particular requirements. This has led us to engage on a permanent basis in the analysis of product specifications and customer service, to the end of ensuring we are able to operate on numerous and often quite different markets, offering dedicated products and services. This customer care policy is exercised by monitoring the actual and potential needs of the customer continuously — needs brought regularly to the attention of central management by the company’s worldwide sales network.

LEADERSHIP
The directors and management have made a habit over the years of meeting regularly to evaluate, agree and implement strategic and operational planning initiatives. To this end our organization has, over time, put in place delegation and control procedures guaranteed to give a strong impetus from the top in the drive to encourage the involvement of all those who work for the company, and more especially to make known the corporate aims and values needed to support its continued growth.

INVOLVEMENT
Our continuing effort to maximize the involvement of human resources is reflected in the creation of the “Luciano Brevini Training School” which manages the professional development of all company employees, on technical and managerial fronts alike. The centre enlists teaching services from outside but will also use internal staff, especially when the subject matter is identifiable with the sharing and promotion of a corporate style or ethic. Human resources are invited regularly to voice their feelings and opinions, so that we can gauge their level of inner satisfaction and, above all, discover potential for growth.

PROCESS APPROACH
The development of our company organization in recent years has been consistent with the principle of ‘process’. Indeed the current structure strongly reflects this very concept inasmuch as — in each area of management — it compasses all the elements essential for management of the main process. In addition, the use of sophisticated IT systems (management and engineering) has led over the years to a routine analysis of company processes at all levels, resulting in the definition and encoding not only of those in the mainstream of activity but those with a supporting function as well.

SYSTEMATIC APPROACH TO MANAGEMENT
The process approach enjoined by ISO 9000 has highlighted the relations existing within the company — hierarchical and other — and enabled the analysis of “input-output” relations between different departments. Today this principle is underscored by the strong thrust toward integration of the company’s different information systems, which will allow data and internal communication to be managed more and more effectively, ultimately guaranteeing that they will always be in the right place at the right time.

CONTINUAL IMPROVEMENT
Every year, the management sets targets for the improvement of products (so as to stay competitive in the market), processes (in order to reduce internal costs) and services (to ensure full customer satisfaction). These targets form an integral part of our medium term strategy and are monitored continuously to guarantee their progress and the availability of all the human, technological and financial resources necessary for their implementation.

DECISIONS BASED ON FACTS
The company’s IT facilities have enabled the development of a sophisticated reporting system through which our organization can evaluate targets numerically and analyze the relative trends, at every level. In effect, all internal communications are channelled through a document management system, so that actions and outcomes can be scrutinized with proper objectivity.

MUTUALLY BENEFICIAL RELATIONS WITH SUPPLIERS
The network of suppliers used by Brevini Power Transmssion has always been considered one of the company’s biggest assets. The speed and flexibility of response we are able currently to show the customer depends not least on our relationship with suppliers, who are often involved in co-design and — by extension — in prototyping and production. The close attention given to this aspect of operations is confirmed by the fact that several of our suppliers are also companies in which the Group has shareholdings.
